Cymbalta (duloxetine) is a SSNRI antidepressant that restores the balance of natural substances in the brain resulting in significant improvement of some mood problems. This medicine is used for the treatment of general anxiety disorder and major depressive disorder. Cymbalta must not be combined with thioridazine, or a monoamine oxidase inhibitor (isocarboxazid, phenelzine, rasagiline, selegiline). At least 14 days should pass between any of these drugs and a dosage of Cymbalta. Another matter of concern especially for young adults (under 24) is an increased incidence of suicidal thoughts during the first couple of months of taking this medicine. You must not skip any of the appointment of your doctor to make sure you get psychological help and can move on with your treatment without suffering any complications.
If you notice your symptoms are becoming worse (you become aggressive, physically or mentally hyperactive, impulsive, irritable, and hostile, have panic and anxiety attacks) you need to seek professional medical support. Cymbalta has been reported to impair thinking and reaction. Some side effects you may experience when taking this drug include drowsiness, sleep problems, diarrhea, constipation, dry mouth, weight changes, decreased sex drive and increased sweating.
